What We Do

Early Childhood Development

TEN/MET promotes holistic early childhood development by advocating for age-appropriate learning, nurturing care, and supportive home–school environments. Our work focuses on ensuring that children in their earliest years have access to quality pre-primary education, well-trained caregivers, and safe learning spaces that build strong foundations for lifelong learning.

Education Financing

We engage government, development partners, and civil society to strengthen education financing so that resources are adequate, equitable, and efficiently used. TEN/MET supports evidence-based advocacy on budget allocations, public expenditure tracking, and accountability to ensure that no learner is left behind due to financial barriers.

Teaching & Learning Environment

TEN/MET works to improve the quality of teaching and learning environments by advocating for adequate infrastructure, relevant learning materials, and motivated, well-supported teachers. We champion learner-centered approaches, inclusive classrooms, and safe, friendly schools that nurture curiosity and critical thinking.

Girls Education

We advocate for the rights of girls to access, remain, and succeed in education at all levels. TEN/MET collaborates with partners to address harmful norms, early pregnancy, child marriage, and other barriers that limit girls’ opportunities, while promoting policies and programs that empower them to learn, lead, and thrive.

Inclusive Education

TEN/MET promotes inclusive education systems that recognize and respond to the diverse needs of all learners, including children with disabilities and those from marginalized communities. We support advocacy, capacity building, and community engagement to ensure that every child can learn in a dignified, supportive, and barrier-free environment.

Education in Emergencies & Climate Change Resilience

We work to protect the right to education before, during, and after crises such as conflicts, floods, droughts, and other climate-related shocks. TEN/MET advocates for risk-informed planning, resilient school infrastructure, and responsive systems that keep children learning in the face of emergencies and a changing climate.

Youth Skills Development & Empowerment

TEN/MET supports youth-focused programs that build relevant skills for work, life, and active citizenship. We collaborate with members to promote vocational training, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities that empower young people to shape their futures and contribute to national development.

Adult & Non-Formal Education

We recognize learning as a lifelong process and advocate for strong adult and non-formal education systems. TEN/MET promotes literacy, continuing education, and community learning initiatives that equip adults and out-of-school learners with the knowledge and skills they need to improve their livelihoods and participate fully in society.

Child Protection & Safeguarding

Child protection and safeguarding are at the heart of TEN/MET’s work. We promote safe learning environments, strong safeguarding policies, and child-centered practices that prevent violence, abuse, and exploitation. Our network works with schools, communities, and duty bearers to ensure that every child learns in safety and with dignity.
