TEN/MET is implementing its five year strategic plan for 2017-2022 and as part of Highlighting the new strategic direction, TEN/MET secretariat focuses to a greater extent on coordinating the network through strategic meetings in the planning process aiming to encourage ownership and accountability from the solid base in terms of members operating in multiple levels from national to local.

TEN/MET members annual advocacy planning meetings are part of this new strategic direction, its main objective is to capitalize on members strength highly focused and well coordinated advocacy campaigns by identifying  specific issues for advocacy and develop collective advocacy strategies with impact.

The first annual Advocacy Strategic Meeting was held on friday 3rd of August and it had specific objectives which were to:

• Identify  specific advocacy agendas as per strategic focus areas (Child right, Girls Education, Inclusive education, Early childhood development and learning environments) to be campaigned throughout
• Devise specific advocacy strategies to advocate for the improvement of quality of education as per thematic area
• Appoint strategic partners to steer advocacy campaigns for each advocacy agenda as per  thematic area.

At the end two main Areas of advocacy were identified being Violence Against Children (VAC) which stands within the Child Protection thematic area and Inclusive Education mainly focusing on children with special needs which aligns directly with the Networks’s thematic area.
